Romain Virgo Releases Heartfelt Single “Been There Before” ft. Masicka as Prelude to Upcoming Album
Jamaican reggae sensation Romain Virgo has just dropped the poignant track “Been There Before,” featuring Masicka, as a prelude to his fourth studio album, The Gentle Man, scheduled for release on March 1. This soulful single, now available digitally via VP Records, carries a powerful message of perseverance and triumph.
Produced by Romeich Major, along with Niko Browne and Rayon ‘Slyda’ Curate, “Been There Before” provides Romain Virgo with a canvas to narrate his personal struggles, illustrating a journey from adversity to triumph. Masicka complements the narrative by giving a voice to the voiceless, offering assurance to those facing challenges that greatness is attainable.
The artists, once shackled by the negativity of the past, have found empowerment in their experiences. Their shared message is one of encouragement, urging others to aspire for similar triumphs.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, Romain Virgo shared, “When I heard the riddim, it brought back all these memories from when I was a youth. It made me think about the struggles that I faced personally, and the struggles that we, as a family, faced together. It made me think of the struggles I face today. So, I knew I had to capture those reflections — on what is, what was, and what could be.”
“Been There Before” marks the fourth single in anticipation of Romain’s upcoming album The Gentle Man. Preceded by “Good Woman,” “Driver,” and the recent release “Switch You On,” the Stepney, St. Ann native is gearing up for performances in Jamaica, North-East, and South of the United States, various Caribbean festivals, and a European tour from June to August, including a performance at Summerjam in Germany in July. The empowering track is available on all streaming platforms.
