Jamaican singer Omi has reached another career milestone as his 2015 hit single “Hula Hoop” has been certified Silver in the United Kingdom. The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) recently announced the certification, marking the song’s sales and streaming figures surpassing 200,000 units.

This recognition adds to Omi’s growing list of achievements, making “Hula Hoop” his third Brit Certified Silver single. He previously saw major success with his international hit “Cheerleader” (Felix Jaehn Remix), which went on to achieve 5x Platinum status in the UK with over 3 million units sold. Another track that earned Silver certification was “I Found a Girl,” Omi’s collaboration with The Vamps.

“Hula Hoop” followed closely on the heels of “Cheerleader,” benefiting from the momentum that Omi’s breakout track had generated globally. Known for its catchy melodies and upbeat vibe, “Hula Hoop” helped cement Omi’s reputation as a pop-reggae fusion artist capable of creating infectious tunes that resonate across borders.

While Omi celebrates the success of his past work, he is already focusing on the future. Earlier this month, he released his latest single, “Poker Face,” under Oufah Music. Produced by Specialist and Alistair McIntosh, the track is gradually picking up steam, and Omi believes that with the right promotion, it has the potential to become another standout in his catalog. “It’s one of those songs that you feel is gonna do well with promotion behind it,” he shared in a recent interview.

An official music video for “Poker Face” is also in the works and is expected to drop soon, further amplifying the track’s reach. This new release marks the beginning of what looks to be an exciting period in Omi’s career, as he prepares for his sophomore album, slated for early 2025.

Although the album doesn’t have an official title yet, Omi has hinted at the direction it will take. “The fans will be able to see a lot of growth in the music,” he said. This time, Omi is aiming to bring a more personal, authentic touch to his work. “I will be more involved, so you’ll hear a more organic Omi,” he added.

Omi’s ability to consistently produce hits while evolving his sound has made him a lasting figure in the global music scene. With over a billion streams for “Cheerleader” and the continued recognition of tracks like “Hula Hoop,” his legacy is firmly established. As he continues to release new music and push his artistic boundaries, fans are eager to see how Omi’s journey unfolds in the coming years.
