After years of near silence, Giveon steps back into the spotlight. The Grammy-nominated R&B crooner has officially announced his long-awaited sophomore album, “Beloved.” The album will come out on July 11.

The news dropped via Instagram on Wednesday (May 28), where Giveon shared a stripped-down yet deeply heartfelt message with fans.

“BELOVED, the sophomore album, July 11th,” he wrote. “i spent over a thousand days crafting this for you and for myself. excited for you to see my growth not only as an artist but also as a man. i’ll never take your patience for granted. see you soon.”

Thus, the announcement comes on the heels of Twenties, the album’s lead single released in March. It climbed to No. 6 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart. The track arrived as a reflective marker, dropping on the fifth anniversary of his Take Time EP. This project introduced Giveon’s baritone to the world and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album in 2021.

Giveon and His New Projects

Since then, Giveon has been selective about his presence. Outside of Justin Bieber’s chart-topping 2021 hit “Peaches,” he has largely stayed behind the curtain. Giveon has deliberately focused on shaping his next chapter.

“I get that question a lot,” he told Billboard earlier this year when asked about his relative quiet. “I always tell people that I’ve just been absorbing bodies of work that inspire me. Not just music but multiple medium—paintings, films, and life itself. A lot of inspiration comes from life, and all of my music is autobiographical. So I don’t have a choice but to experience life and then write it out while working on my craft.”

Thus, that introspection appears to have crystallized into Beloved. It is a project that Giveon suggests carries more intentional weight than his previous releases. “With my first album, I was just making music and having fun,” he said. “Now I’m still having [fun]. But I’m also like, ‘Oh, I have a responsibility with this music because I see how it touches and helps people.'”

So, from its looks, Beloved is shaping up to be more than just a sophomore effort. It’s a declaration—from an artist who’s taken the time to live, reflect, and emerge with something meaningful to say.

Thus, stay tuned. July 11 is just around the corner.
