Burna Boy and Shaboozey Are Bringing a New Collaboration
Burna Boy and Shaboozey have unveiled their eagerly awaited collaboration. The track is titled “Change Your Mind,” released on July 8. “Change Your Mind” comes just days ahead of Burna Boy’s highly anticipated eighth studio album.
The track brings together two Nigerian-rooted artists who are pushing musical boundaries across continents. Thus, their partnership comes into a moment when genre lines are being blurred both in Africa and beyond.
“Change Your Mind” marks the latest chapter in Burna Boy’s storied career. The singer recently announced that “No Sign of Weakness” will feature heavyweights like Mick Jagger, Stromae, and Travis Scott. Fans first heard “Change Your Mind” during a post-Grammy celebration in Los Angeles. Soon, the social media erupted with after clips showing the crowd singing along. The blend of Southern guitar riffs and Afrobeats elements immediately captured listeners.
Burna Boy and New Era In Music
“No Sign of Weakness” promises to continue Burna Boy’s journey of sonic experimentation. It will feature 16 tracks and an eclectic range of collaborators. Burna Boy will team with Travis Scott to Stromae. Among all of them, the legendary Mick Jagger. This record is expected to weave Afro-fusion sound while pushing into new sonic territories. Burna’s international tour kicks off in Berlin this month. Also, it will have stops at major European festivals. After that, he will head to North America in the fall.
On the other side, Virginia-raised Shaboozey represents a new wave of Black musicians. His breakout anthem “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has catapulted him to a frontline position within the shifting landscape of the genre. He is blending country music with new-age sensibilities. Shaboozey’s works are a part of a larger way of culture. He is side by side with artists that combine different sounds to create something fresh and boundary-defining.
For Burna Boy, this project with Shaboozey further confirms his status as a global Afro-fusion ambassador. That is to say, ultrapolites that extend dancehall, soul, amapiano, and traditional West African music. Together, these two artists thereby join the melting pot of culture: remixing the Black musical expression anchored amply in history and enormously shaped by migration.
The emergence of “Change Your Mind” also marks yet another intriguingly chic way in the ongoing cultural journey of Burna Boy. It shows his unbroken desire to fuse genres and, furthermore, establish new global pathways.
