Ayra Starr and Wizkid Release a New Collaboration

Ayra Starr and Wizkid, two of Afrobeats’ came together again on “Gimme Dat,” a breezy, tropical single released Thursday (April 24). The track marks their latest collaboration since the 2022 standout “2 Sugar” from Whizkid’s “More Love, Less Ego” album.

The 22-year-old singer, affectionately known as the “Sabi Girl,” first teased “Gimme Dat” with a sun-drenched Instagram clip last week. It shows her vibing to the track during a golden-hour moment as the smooth beat fades into Wizkid’s instantly recognizable vocals. She playfully captioned—the anticipation for the duet swelled among fans.

Produced by VybeO and Mikabeatz, “Gimme Dat” draws from early 2000s nostalgia. It reflects Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s 2000 hit “911.” The track, a Billboard staple in its own right, climbed to No. 6 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 38 on the Hot 100. Also, gaining a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
