Canada-based dancehall artist Phenique is set to elevate her career with her latest single, Badd, featuring Chronic Law.

“I’m really thrilled about Badd because we tested it out in a few clubs and parties in Toronto, and the reaction was incredible, even before the first verse finished. When Chronic Law’s verse dropped, the place went wild. It’s definitely a hit!” Phenique shared.

The single, produced by In House Music Production, was released on August 9th across all digital platforms. Badd is the lead track from Phenique’s upcoming eight-track EP, Wet, which boasts provocatively titled songs like “Fat Fat,” “Itsy Bitsy,” and “Barbie Doll,” all produced by her mother and manager, Sheryl Channer, through In House Music Production. Another standout track, “Diamond,” is produced by DJ Lethal Vybz.

“As you might guess from the titles, the songs have a sensual vibe, which is why the EP is called Wet,” Phenique said with a laugh.

Originally from Spanish Town, Jamaica, Phenique moved to Toronto at age 14, a year after realizing her passion for music. During her early years, she identified as a tomboy, enjoying activities like biking and soccer. However, as she grew older, she embraced her feminine side and started writing her own songs. Her music is characterized by smooth, melodic rhythms that she describes as “authentic dancehall with a twist.”

While based in Toronto, Phenique has explored a blend of genres, incorporating elements from hip hop, R&B, Afrobeats, Afro Swing, and Grime.

“The dancehall community is definitely connecting with my music, so keep an eye out for Phenique from the 6ix,” she said.
