Emerging dancehall artist Shayy Soprano is making waves with her latest single, ‘Go Dey’, which was released last week alongside its official music video. The track captures the essence of what dancehall represents: high-energy beats, vibrant lyrics, and a fun, carefree attitude.

Speaking about the single, Shayy Soprano highlighted the core elements that she believes define the genre. “This video single taps into what dancehall represents—hot girls, a fire beat, and vibesy lyrics for anyone looking to have a good time. The response has been great from disc jockeys to mixtape deejays to the streets,” she shared. For Shayy, Go Dey is not just another release; it’s a statement about the role of new female talent in the dancehall scene. “Shayy Soprano is representing for all the talented new females in the business,” she added.

The track was produced by Bigga1 Music, Di Truth Records, and Topalone Records. A standout feature of Go Dey is its use of the iconic Mad Ants riddim, produced by Don Corleon in 2002. This riddim, which has long been a staple in dancehall, lends a nostalgic touch to the track while maintaining a modern edge. The same project also includes Skeng’s Hasta La Vista, bringing together fresh voices over a classic beat.

Shayy Soprano, whose real name is Shauna McCrea, began her recording career in 2021. Despite being relatively new to the scene, she has quickly garnered attention for her bold lyrics and captivating presence. Her unique style blends elements of traditional dancehall with contemporary influences, helping her carve out a space in a competitive industry.

However, Shayy Soprano is keen to take her career to the next level and is currently seeking a manager to help her expand her reach internationally. “I am looking for a manager who can represent me and open doors for me in international markets,” she said. For Shayy, the right guidance could help her unlock even more opportunities and visibility in markets beyond Jamaica.

In addition to her solo work, Shayy Soprano is also set to feature on a project orchestrated by the legendary musician Robbie Shakespeare, part of the renowned duo Sly and Robbie. Shakespeare, who passed away in 2021, had a significant influence on the project and selected Shayy to give the record a modern sound while still paying homage to the roots of dancehall. “Sly Dunbar wanted me on the record to give it a new generation sound but also to represent that old throwback dancehall vibe,” Shayy explained. The project is set for release on October 19 and has already started receiving radio play.

With Go Dey gaining traction and her feature on the upcoming Sly and Robbie project, Shayy Soprano is poised to become a prominent figure in the dancehall scene, blending the genre’s past with its evolving future.
