Skillibeng Achieves First Gold Certification in Canada with “Jump” Collaboration

Tyla‘s track “Jump,” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng, has attained Gold certification in Canada, marking a significant milestone for the dancehall artist. The certification, issued by Music Canada on July 2, 2024, recognizes combined sales and streams exceeding 40,000 units. Notably, this achievement represents Skillibeng‘s inaugural Gold certification in any country.

Released as a single on May 14, 2024, “Jump” gained traction across various social media platforms, notably TikTok, fueling its popularity. The song’s success underscores its appeal, with the track becoming a standout from Tyla‘s debut album, “TYLA.” This follows her earlier hit “Water,” which achieved Double Platinum status on April 22, 2024, with 160,000 units sold.

“Jump” has also marked a milestone on streaming platforms, amassing over 114 million streams on Spotify alone. For Skillibeng, it represents his first song to surpass the 100 million stream mark across any platform, underscoring his growing influence. Gunna, meanwhile, celebrates his 36th song to achieve such a feat, while Tyla enjoys her second.

The accompanying music video, released on May 20, has also proven popular, garnering more than 15 million views on YouTube to date. The visual spectacle was further highlighted during the artists’ performance of “Jump” at the 2024 BET Awards, featuring an Afro-jungle themed set complete with dancers in tiger-formed cages, and an oversized elephant, adding to the song’s vibrant appeal.

Skillibeng’s involvement in “Jump” was initially revealed by World Music Views on March 22, noting his collaboration with Grammy-winning singer Tyla. The track was recorded at Geejam Studios in Jamaica, where Tyla drew inspiration from the local environment, cultivating a creative backdrop for their collaboration. The performance at the BET Awards showcased Skillibeng’s dynamic presence, delivering two verses amidst an energetic dance ensemble.
