Snoop Dogg is once again blending faith and music, announcing the upcoming release of “Altar Call,” a new album. It is going to be a deeply personal gospel album set to arrive April 27 via Death Row Records. The 21-track project is both a spiritual statement and a heartfelt homage to his late mother, Beverly Tate. Notably, she passed away in 2021.

April 27, I’m dropping a gospel album on Death Row Records. It’s called Altar Call,” Snoop Dogg revealed in a video shared to Instagram on Tuesday. “You heard it first. A gospel album, April 27. God is good. Won’t he do it?”
The cover art for “Altar Call” features an image of Beverly Tate, whose legacy and life lessons still have lasting effects on Snoop’s journey. “U taught me how to read and write, how to struggle and fight, and all the facts of life,” he wrote in a tribute following her passing. “Now you finally got ya wings, mama.”

Also, in a recent interview with Okayplayer, Snoop Dogg opened up about his mother’s lasting influence. “The spirit of my mother will forever live within me,” he said. “This album is a reflection of what she has taught me. To use my voice and my platform to spread love and heal the world. Just another chapter out of the Bible of Love.”

“Altar Call” boasts a wide range of collaborators, including Jamie Foxx and Grammy-winning jazz pianist Robert Glasper. Also, producer Denaun Porter, Jazze Pha, Charlie Bereal, Jane Handcock, and October London. Thus, it promises a rich musical landscape that bridges gospel, soul, and hip-hop.
This is not Snoop’s first time in gospel music. In 2018, he released “Bible of Love,” a 32-track album that topped the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. The album featured appearances from Faith Evans, Charlie Wilson, and others. That project marked a significant moment of spiritual growth in his expansive career.

Snoop continues to evolve and work. He closed out 2024 with Missionary, a collaborative album with longtime pal and producer Dr. Dre. The album debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200. Thus affirming the duo’s enduring cultural relevance.

With “Altar Call,” Snoop Dogg offers not just a gospel album but a testament to faith, family, and the enduring power of music to heal.
