Sean Paul lights up Dreamville Festival’s first day
Grammy award-winning Dancehall star Sean Paul delivered an energetic performance on the first day of J Cole’s Dreamville Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, on April 1, 2023. The festival saw around 50,000 patrons who were eager to see popular acts like Usher, Lil Durk, City Girls, and Ari Lennox. Paul is the first Dancehall artist to perform at the event since its inception in 2019.
Paul’s performance was nothing short of smashing as he started with his Dua Lipa collaboration No Lie, which went Double Platinum in the UK last year. He maintained the momentum with hits like Get Busy, Cheap Thrills, Baby Boy, Give It Up To Me, and Gimmi Di Light. The backup dancers stayed on beat as the Jamaican star transitioned from classic to classic. Social media buzzed with photos and a recap video for those who missed the excitement.
The Dreamville Festival wrapped up on April 2, 2023, with the likes of Drake and J. Cole performing a medley, along with Summer Walker, Arrya Star, Waka Flocka Flame, and the African giant Burna Boy. Lil Wayne also made a special appearance.
Sean Paul, who has never shied away from the fact that he is a Dancehall artist, has had 19 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since 2003. His latest album Scorcha was nominated for Best Reggae Album at the 65th Grammy Awards and included songs such as How We Do It with Pia Mia, No Fear with Damian Marley and Nicky Jam, and Light My Fire with Shenseea and Gwen Stefani.
Since the beginning of the year, he has released No Me Controles with Venezuelan star Danny Ocean and producer Rvssian, Gyal Generals with Charly Black, and Karmika with Karol G, according to a statement from Paul’s camp. At 50 years old, Sean Paul proves he still has what it takes to deliver an electrifying performance and captivate audiences around the world with his signature sound.
