Queen Latifah, Pharrell, Busta Rhymes and more pay tribute to Trugoy The Dove

Trugoy The Dove passed away on Sunday February 12, 2023. The death of Trugoy The Dove left the hip hip world mourning. The member of De La Soul passed away this Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the age of 54 years old.

The news of this loss did not leave music stars indifferent. Busta Rhymes, Pharrell and many others were quick to react on social media.

Pharrell reacted on Twitter with a tribute. “Trugoy Dave from De La Soul has gone up to be with the day of the stars with the Master,” Pharrell wrote. “Sending love, light and positive vibrations to his family, The Soul and everyone whose lives have been touched by his existence. Oodles and Oodles and Oodles of O’s.”

Busta Rhymes also shared his feelings on Instagram. “Complete Disbelief that I’m typing this right now. This one hurts Bad. Dave aka Trugoy the Dove Fly Beloved Fly.. Rest Easy King.”

Prince Paul, who produced De La Soul’s first three albums, was also shocked. His proximity with the band affected him even more than others. ““You have no idea how much pain in this last year. Dave love you bro. A blessing we got a chance to unite again. Divine power. Literally no words anymore. De la soul forever.”

Latifah didn’t write much. She just posted on Instagram an image of the deceased with a short prayer. “ Rest in peace to a great soul Trugoy the Dove ”
