DEATH OF BOB MARLEY’s Grandson JO MERSA MARLEY AT 31

The son of Stephen Marley, Jo Mersa Marley has died at the very young age of 31.

To date, he has released two EPs, with the latest being released in 2021. 

The grandson of Bob Marley and son of Stephen Marley was an artist himself. As stated by Rolling Stone, which reported the information, the causes of his death have not been officially revealed.

Several sources, including the always well-informed TMZ, reported an asthma problem that would have taken the young artist’s life. According to Caribbean radio station WZPP Radio, Jo Mersa Marley was found in his car on Tuesday morning. The media indicated that he was married and had a daughter.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of artist Joseph Marley, son of reggae star Stephen Marley and grandson of reggae superstar Bob Marley,” Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, wrote on Twitter.

“His untimely death, at the young age of 31, is a great loss for the next generation of musicians,” he continues. May he find eternal rest as we mourn his loss…”

Born in Jamaica in 1992, Jo Mersa Marley moved to Miami when he was 11 years old. His father Stephen Marley was part of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, a group formed along with his siblings Ziggy, Sharon and Cedella Marley. Jo Mersa Marley grew up surrounded by music and musicians.

After high school, he studied sound engineering while releasing his own musical projects. His first EP, Comfortable, was released in 2014. The second, titled Eternal, was released last year.
