Reggae artist Patrice Chang, known professionally as “Sista P,” has unveiled her latest project, a five-track EP titled “The Beginning.” This release marks her deep commitment to promoting ethical values and moral integrity through her music.

“The Beginning” draws from Sista P‘s diverse musical background, reflecting her experiences in Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States. The EP is a mix of her early musical influences and aims to offer songs filled with hope and growth, using clean lyrics to inspire positive change in society.

Among the tracks, “Generations” stands out as her debut release in Jamaica, featuring artist Ahzid. The lead track, “Jah Is Calling,” draws inspiration from the biblical verse Romans 8:28, encouraging listeners to embrace their true purpose and contribute positively to the world. The EP was launched under the label C.O.A.S.T, a collaboration with renowned Jazz musician Akili Jamal Haynes.

Patrice Chang’s musical journey began in Manchester, Jamaica, where she grew up in a family deeply rooted in music. Her grandfather, Theodore Miller, was a notable figure in mento music with the T Miller Band. Her father, Godfrey Chang, introduced her to the world of music by taking her to numerous rehearsals and performances.

Chang’s education in music further flourished in the United States at the prestigious Fiorello La Guardia H.S. of Music and Arts in New York City, where she honed her skills in Classical, Jazz, and Gospel.

Returning to her reggae roots frequently, she collaborated with family members and local artists during her trips back home. Her involvement in music continued in St. Lucia, where she worked with the Ministry of Education and local musicians, contributing to the “Conscious Zion Train” tour.

Before “The Beginning,” Sista P had collaborated on the EP “Dream Catchers” with producer-artist Mili3RD, which includes the notable track “Hold On,” featuring her cousin Moses.
