Nicki Minaj Forced to Postpone New Orleans Concert Due to Illness
New Orleans fans of Nicki Minaj were met with disappointment as the rapper was forced to postpone her Pink Friday 2 World Tour stop due to illness.
Just hours before showtime, the Smoothie King Center announced the postponement via Instagram, citing doctor’s orders. “Nicki Minaj must reschedule her NOLA show tonight,” the statement read. “As Nicki is still sick, our team does not want to run the risk of getting others sick, and Nicki would not be able to give NOLA the show they deserve.”
A rescheduled date for the New Orleans concert hasn’t been announced yet. However, the venue assures fans that their staff is “working diligently to find a new date” with Minaj’s team. Ticket holders are urged to hold onto their tickets for further updates.
This unexpected illness throws a wrench into Minaj’s busy touring schedule. Although she has today (March 19) to recover, three shows remain on the books for later this week: two consecutive nights in Atlanta followed by a Friday night (March 22) stop in Orlando.
The news comes on the heels of a concerning tweet from Minaj earlier this weekend. After headlining Rolling Loud California on Friday (March 15), she revealed feeling unwell. “Woke up feeling like I had Covid,” she wrote on Twitter, thankfully adding that a test came back negative.
Minaj is currently in the midst of the North American leg of the Pink Friday 2 World Tour, promoting her latest album of the same name. Released in December 2023, Pink Friday 2 debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, moving 228,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.
